Roastery & Brewing Notes

This single origin release is as rich in story as it is in flavour! This speciality coffee was cultivated exclusively by women in the Zongolica region of Veracruz, Mexico. The 20 female producers proudly call it WPZ - Woman Power Zongolica.

This region is deeply influenced by the ancestral heritage of its people, most of whom are part of the Nahuas indigenous group. Across generations, the Nahuas have shared their vast expertise and wisdom about plants, rivers, animals, mountains, the planet and the universe through storytelling by their elders. 

Zongolica farms are agroecosystems, meaning they take into account the impact of the farming well beyond the farm and strive to balance the energy and nutrients to preserve the biodiversity of the region. The women who contributed to WPZ are also part of an initiative to ensure the long-term viability of green coffee supplies and provide smallholder farms with the opportunities and resources they need to run their farms at full potential and enter pathways out of poverty. We fully support this program and in doing so, stock this coffee.

The coffee was pulped with hand-cranked de-pulpers, washed and sun dried on patios for 15 days. Arabica variety - caturra, catuai, sarchimor, marsellesa.

We light roast this coffee to bring out the juicy body and citric acidity.

The beans, cultivated with meticulous care, yield a cup that is a true celebration of the region's flavours. The brew unfolds with sweet nutty notes, accompanied by subtle fruity undertones, creating a harmonious balance. The brightness in acidity adds a refreshing layer, making each sip a journey through the diverse and vibrant Guatemalan coffee profile.
